Are Bifold doors a good idea?
Bifold doors are a great addition to any home and bring a sense of luxury, comfort and style. They create a seamless transition between your garden and your living space and are great for homeowners who want to extend and expand the home for entertainment. Creating a smooth flow between the outside and inside, allows guests to enjoy both areas without feeling congested and homeowners can enjoy newfound convenience and functionality in the home. There is nothing better than enjoying natural light and air flowing through your home!
What material is best?
Bifold doors come in a range of styles, materials, sizes and configurations. The material you choose will determine how much they cost, how they perform and the way they look. Engineered timber bifold doors are a beautiful and classic option and are suited to those wishing to create a traditional style home. Aluminum bifold doors are lightweight and a good choice for those wishing to suit contemporary-style homes.
How much do bifold doors cost?
Bifold door costs vary hugely, based on their size, material and quality. As a rough guide, be prepared to spend a minimum of $3000 for a small 3-door bifold with an opening of around 1.5 meters.
What configuration is best?
Once you know the width of the opening, investigate widths of panes available. This will determine the sort of configuration you can go with. Keep to an odd number of panels so they can stack and create a complete opening. Ensure you also have a master door to gain easy access. This ensures you wont have to open up the entire door system each time you need to use the door.
Larger bifold configurations will need more room to open out. Therefore the more panels you have, will determine the space you will need when they’re folded back. Internal bifold doors are 35mm thick, so if you have 7 panels, you will have a 245mm stack when the doors are concertinaed to one side.
